Application scope

  • The individual PR177 record in DCC Colour Studio lists PVC, polyolefins, PS, PET and ABS. Confirm the proposed grade for the actual resin; these catalogue listings are not an all-grade approval.
  • Catalogue grade 2621C is listed in coating and ink applications. The A/B TDS test system is alkyd melamine. Confirm the mapping to 2621C and the binder, exposure and dispersion requirements with DCC.

PR177 grade reference

Values are from the individual TDS, DCC Revision 1.1, 5 September 2026. A has lower specific surface area and higher oil absorption than B in these documents; this alone does not establish dispersion or colour-strength performance.

Selection details

  • Resin or binder, pigment loading, process temperature and residence time.
  • Target shade, opacity or transparency, and full-shade or reduction use.
  • Dispersion method, exposure conditions and required performance tests.
  • End use, destination market and customer-specific documentation requirements.

Documents and test conditions

Request the current TDS and SDS for the proposed grade and any available application test data. Confirm the supplied grade, document revision and suitability in your formulation before approval.

Both TDS use alkyd melamine, with heat-resistance ratings measured at 200°C for 10 minutes. Full-shade light fastness is 8 for A and 7-8 for B; reduction light fastness is 7 for both. Do not treat these conditions as a processing limit for every polymer.
