Application scope

  • The individual PR170 record in DCC Colour Studio lists PVC and polyolefins as application starting points. This does not establish the suitability of every A-D grade for those polymers.
  • The DCC catalogue lists PR170 grades 2629C and 2427C across coating and ink applications. The A-D TDS use an alkyd melamine test system; ask DCC to confirm the correspondence between catalogue and TDS grade identifiers.

Selection details

  • Resin or binder, pigment loading, process temperature and residence time.
  • Target shade, opacity or transparency, and full-shade or reduction use.
  • Dispersion method, exposure conditions and required performance tests.
  • End use, destination market and customer-specific documentation requirements.

Documents and test conditions

Request the current TDS and SDS for the proposed grade and any available application test data. Confirm the supplied grade, document revision and suitability in your formulation before approval.

The alkyd melamine heat-resistance rating uses 180°C for 10 minutes for DCC-PR170-B, and 160°C for 10 minutes for A, C and D. A/B list light fastness of 7-8 in full shade and 7 in reduction; C/D list 7 and 6-7. These are test-system results, not universal polymer processing limits.
