Pigment Blue 60
PB60
Pigment Blue 60 (PB60) is an indanthrone organic blue pigment. Compare DCC grades A-D, including the different test systems documented for A and B-D.
Product identity
- Colour Index name
- Pigment Blue 60
- Colour Index number
- 69800
- Chemical class
- Indanthrone Blue
- TDS grades
- DCC-PB60-A, DCC-PB60-B, DCC-PB60-C, DCC-PB60-D
Application scope
- DCC-PB60-A has individual TDS recommendations for PVC-P, PVC-R, PP/fibres, LDPE, HDPE, PS, PET, POM, PMMA and rubber. ABS, PA6 and PC are marked Potential. These entries apply to A and need formulation trials.
- DCC-PB60-B, C and D have alkyd melamine and solvent-resistance data; their TDS do not provide the same polymer suitability table as A. Catalogue grade 5296C is listed for coatings, plastics and inks, but its correspondence to A-D must be confirmed.
PB60 grade reference
Selected data for grade enquiries; confirm the current specification with DCC.
| DCC grade | Specific surface area (m²/g) | Oil absorption (g/100g) |
|---|---|---|
| DCC-PB60-A | 32.70 | 48.00 |
| DCC-PB60-B | 33.50 | 37.00 |
| DCC-PB60-C | 33.50 | 37.00 |
| DCC-PB60-D | 33.50 | 37.00 |
A values are from DCC Revision 1.1; B-D values are from DCC Revision 1.0, all dated 5 September 2026. B, C and D have the same displayed physical values; the documents do not establish a performance difference between those three grades.
Selection details
- Resin or binder, pigment loading, process temperature and residence time.
- Target shade, opacity or transparency, and full-shade or reduction use.
- Dispersion method, exposure conditions and required performance tests.
- End use, destination market and customer-specific documentation requirements.
Documents and test conditions
Request the current TDS and SDS for the proposed grade and any available application test data. Confirm the supplied grade, document revision and suitability in your formulation before approval.
A uses HDPE: full shade at 0.2% and reduction at 1:10 TiO2, both with light fastness 8. B-D use alkyd melamine, with heat-resistance ratings at 200°C for 10 minutes and light fastness 8 in full shade and reduction. These different test systems do not support a direct all-grade processing-temperature comparison.
